Rational Suite 1.5 is the latest version of the industry's first and only integrated development solution for cross-functional development teams. Each suite in the Rational Suite family has been updated with new capabilities to further unify, optimize and simplify the development of software for the Internet, including enhancements resulting from recently announced alliances with IBM and Microsoft.

2. New integration between Rational RequisitePro and Rational ClearQuest, which provides full round-trip automation of enhancement requests and defect reports. This feature enables enhancement requests to be collected via the Web in Rational ClearQuest, and from them, requirements can be created in Rational RequisitePro. Associations are maintained between enhancement requests in ClearQuest and requirements in RequisitePro, providing an audit trail and traceability between enhancement requests, requirements, models, and test cases.

3. Requirement metrics reporting and analysis to help evaluate the status, coverage, and trends of requirements data

4. Enhanced scalability, via support for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases

5. A choice of using a Windows GUI or a Web interface with Rational RequisitePro to access and modify requirement data

3. Enhanced support for Java Development Kit 1.2 class libraries

Rational Suite TestStudio 1.5 features several enhancements for e-development, including:

1. The industry's first full support for testing IBM VisualAge for Java 3.0 applications

2. An Open Java Extensibility API, which facilitates full object-oriented recording and testing of custom or third-party Java class libraries

3. Support for MS Visual J++, Symantec Visual Cafй ,and KL Group Java controls

4. Support for testing Web applications in Netscape Navigator

5. Automated test-generation capabilities for Java and C++ applications via Rational TestFactory, the industry's most advanced automated test generation tool

Enhancements to Rational Suite PerformanceStudio

Load testing enhancements for e-development in Rational Suite PerformanceStudio include:

1. Support for the new standard and advanced editions of IBM Websphere Application Server

2. IBM DB/2 Universal Database support

3 .Support for Microsoft's SQL Server 7 database

4 .ODBC support, enabling the testing of any ODBC-compliant database

5. Support for a new concept called "IP aliasing," which enables organizations to simulate multiple IP addresses from a single load test agent. IP alaising also provides feedback on responses to IP requests, which helps testers analyze response rates and the accuracy of those responses.

6. New line speed control features which simulate Web users accessing a system via different modem speeds
