Oracle JDeveloper Suite 2.0, available now, provides a complete Java development environment for developing and deploying applications ranging from Java and HTML clients to server-based business components for the Internet computing platform.
The JDeveloper Suite 2.0 includes the following software products:
JDeveloper 2.0 supports application development based on industry-standard Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) and CORBA component models. Using intuitive and easy to use wizards, the product provides full support for a rich set of Java standards -- servlet, JDBC, SQLJ, InfoBus, and JFC/Swing. JDeveloper 2.0 comes with a servlet engine that allows servlets to be developed and tested within JDeveloper.
Integration with Oracle 8i and Oracle Application Server
JDeveloper 2.0 is seamlessly integrated with Oracle8i and Oracle Application Server for developing and deploying enterprise applications. Integration with Oracle8i data server and Oracle Application Server includes visual-wizards for developing and and deploying EJB components, CORBA server objects, and Java Stored Procedures.

Enterprise JavaBeans™ (EJB)
support.
EJB components are Java

JDeveloper 2.0 supports building and deploying reusable EJB and CORBA components that can be deployed on either Oracle Application Server or inside the Oracle8i database, both of which include a highly optimized, integrated EJB server and CORBA ORB.
Java database programming with Oracle8i. Oracle8i provides a number of features that make it not only the world's leading data management system, but also the most scalable, high-performance platform for Java application development and deployment. Oracle8i Java support includes an integrated, high-performance Java VM that enables the execution of Java stored programs, built-in JDBC drivers and SQLJ translator, and an integrated EJB server and CORBA ORB.
JDeveloper 2.0 is optimized to take advantage of the Java support in Oracle8i, and includes wizards, deployment profiles, and other features to make server-side Java development, debugging, and deployment more productive.
Servlet support for transactional Web content. JDeveloper 2.0 has extensive support for creating and deploying Java servlets--server-side Java programs in the middle-tier that is typically used for presentation logic by dynamically generates interactive HTML pages for any client running a browser. Servlets can also be used to access data and implement business logic in a two-tier environment.
The database servlet (DBServlet) infrastructure makes it easier than ever before to build transactional, pure Java servlets. The Database Servlet Form Wizard can quickly generate Java servlet classes that output rich HTML interfaces whose look-and-feel can be customized through the use of Cascading Style Sheets.
True multi-tier application development. As companies move from client-server applications to multi-tier Internet architectures, the ability to write, debug, and deploy to all tiers from within the same development tool is a key requirement.
JDeveloper 2.0 delivers a new multi-tier project workspace that allows developers to work simultaneously on code that is destined for different tiers of an application, inluding database stored procedures, Enterprise JavaBeans, and client-side applet or servlet code.
