NetManage and Centura Software strike strategic partnership for AS/400 client/server connectivity

Munich, Dezember 9th, 1998 – NetManage and Centura Software have announced a strategic partnership to provide enterprise customers with AS/400 connectivity solutions. The relationship enables NetManage to provide enterprise customers with access to large systems as part of its core offering.

NetManage has traditionally specialised in Windows to host emulation connectivity and ODBC support solutions. The company recognises that some enterprise customers are increasingly looking to a solution that is able to provide additional connectivity in order to support applications such as database access across midrange platforms.

Centura offers a powerful and leading product in this arena in the form of the Centura Team Developer (CTD), which when combined with NetManage’s Chameleon and NS/Portfolio products deliver a power business solution to the UK market. By working closely together, the two companies’ product advances will be able to guarantee users full compatibility and maximum performance from the desktop.

- "NetManage is pleased to be working together with Centura to deliver a full solution to our customers. NetManage places a high importance on forging links with solution providers in the market like Centura," says Gordon Ash, Vice President, Netmanage.

- "The alliance between Centura and NetManage further strengthens the commitment made by Centura to provide an open and flexible environment for its developers. With NetManage's advanced connectivity, AS/400 users can now enjoy an open, productive, component based development environment," says Simon Addis, Product Marketing Manager, Centura.

Centura's Team Developer product (CTD) is the 32-bit version of SQLWindows, Centura's award-winning object oriented 4GL tool used by thousands of programmers to develop large-scale development projects on time and on budget. CTD provides native database connectivity to Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, Informix, SQLBase, DBZ, CA-OpenIngres and ODBC.

CTD offers an exceptional combination of productivity, connectivity and openness. It gives development teams the tools they need to deliver scaleable and robust business applications for both Web and Windows Client/Server applications. CTD contains a rich fourth generation language (SAL), a full-featured source code and component management system (Team Object Manager), the newly integrated Component Developer's Kit (CDK) and a variety of other valuable tools.
